- Identify the addition sign (+) and work out related sums.
- Taking away
- Count objects, take away up to 9 objects, and identify the subtraction sign (-).
- Take away all objects in a group to notice that "zero" remains, and work out taking away sums.

- Identify tools for telling time and outline vocabulary related to time (morning, noon, evening).
- Compare shadow sizes at different times and identify daily activities.
- Arrange flashcards to identify the days of the week and months of the year.
- Money (Kenyan currency coins)
- Identify and observe different Kenyan coins (Ksh. 1, 5, 10, 20).
- Count money in one-shilling coins up to 20 and trace different coins on paper.
