  This records of work structure the foundational Islamic Religious Education syllabus for Grade 1 learners during the second term.

  • Number of Weeks: The scope covers weeks 1 to 12. Out of the 14 weeks, the missing weeks (6, 13, and 14) are either dedicated for mid-term break or end of term 2 revisions and exam preparation and administration.

  • HADITH (Covered in Weeks 1 to 4)
    • Hadith on: obedience
      • Defining obedience and discussing ways children obey their parents.
      • Identifying actions that displease Allah (SWT) and discussing the teachings of the Hadith.
      • Reciting conditions that give Allah pleasure or anger and practicing obedience at home.
    • Hadith on: Obedience (Obedience to others)
      • Listing and observing school rules as a practice of obedience.
      • Reciting Qur'an 4:59 and discussing the importance of the Hadith in shaping lives.
    • Hadith on: Cleanliness
      • Stating Islamic teachings on cleanliness and interpreting the Hadith in English.
      • Stating the number of verses, reciting the selected Hadith, and practicing cleanliness as an act of ibadah.
      • Identifying the dos and don'ts of cleanliness and maintaining personal hygiene with specific items.
    • Revision
      • Reciting the Prophet's hadith on obedience and answering related questions.
      • Identifying good and bad hygiene practices and brainstorming on health benefits.
  • DEVOTIONAL ACTS (Covered in Weeks 4 to 7)
    • Pillars of Islam
      • Defining devotional acts and identifying the number of pillars.
      • Memorizing and pronouncing the five pillars of Islam using a song.
      • Matching pictures to the correct pillars.
      • Pronouncing, describing, and reciting the Shahadah as a basic principle of Islam.
      • Spelling the pillars, describing their meanings, and tracing/colouring the Shahadah during revision.
  • MORAL TEACHINGS (Covered in Weeks 7 to 12)
    • Islamic etiquettes (Islamic Greetings)
      • Responding to and interpreting Islamic greetings correctly.
      • Reciting the Prophet's Hadith on greetings and discussing Islamic etiquettes on how and when to greet others.
      • Appreciating greetings to attain rewards and spread love.
    • Islamic etiquettes (Manners of eating)
      • Defining Bismillah and Alhamdulillah, and memorizing the duas before and after eating.
      • Identifying the correct hand to use and the importance of eating food placed in front of oneself.
      • Identifying proper steps before eating and discouraging bad eating habits.
      • Reciting the Hadith on manners of eating and avoiding eating with the left hand.
    • Islamic etiquettes (Manners of drinking)
      • Reciting prescribed duas before and after drinking to seek blessings.
      • Practicing Islamic manners of drinking as an act of worship.
    • Islamic etiquettes (Islamic phrases)
      • Identifying the meanings, proper situations, and correct usage of phrases like "Jazakallah khayr", "Masha Allah", and "Insha'Allah".
      • Discussing the importance of using these phrases to express thanks and reliance on Allah.
