    • Gaseous Exchange and Respiration (Weeks 5-6): Explain the structure of gaseous exchange sites, describe stomatal opening and closing, explain aerobic and anaerobic respiration, discuss the economic importance of anaerobic respiration, explain stomatal adaptations, describe gaseous exchange in aquatic and terrestrial plants, and evaluate the importance of respiration in plants.
  • Anatomy and Physiology of Animals
    • Nutrition (Weeks 7-8): Explain the mouthparts of insects, describe feeding adaptations in insects, explain the beaks of birds, relate beak structure to feeding habits, identify different insect mouthparts, describe feeding modes in birds, compare feeding adaptations, and appreciate the diversity in feeding modes.
    • Transport (Weeks 10-12): Explain the importance of transport in animals, describe circulatory systems, explain the pumping mechanism of the heart, describe the blood clotting mechanism, explain lymphatic system functions, describe transport systems in animals including the mammalian circulatory system, explain ABO blood grouping and the Rhesus factor, discuss blood transfusion compatibility, explain the structure of the mammalian heart, describe the blood circulation pathway, explain the functions of blood components, and discuss diseases affecting the transport system.
