Summary

• Description:

The PDF document comprises THE SUPER LEAGUE JOINT NATIONAL MOCKS Physics Paper 3 2026 Mock Exam with Answers (Marking Scheme). The marking scheme is in a different document.

It was a KCSE Physics 232/3 examination.

This practical examination assesses experimental competencies, data collection accuracy, graphical analysis, and procedural execution in physics. It specifically tests candidates on internal resistance measurements, optical refraction through glass blocks, and oscillatory mechanics using spiral springs.

  • Duration: 2 Hours 30 Minutes
  • Total Marks: 40
  • Number of Questions: 2 (Questions 1 and 2)
  • Structure: A compulsory laboratory practical examination containing two comprehensive questions: Question 1 (22 marks, consisting of Part A on electric circuits and Part B on glass block refraction) and Question 2 (18 marks, on spiral spring oscillations and Hooke's law).

  It covers the following topics:

  • Question 1
    • Current Electricity (Part A: Circuit assembly, measuring open-circuit EMF and closed-circuit terminal voltage, current readings, and calculating internal resistance and lost volts)
    • Refraction of Light (Part B: Tracing ray paths through a rectangular glass block with optical pins, measuring lateral displacement across varying angles of incidence, graphical plotting of lateral displacement against angle of incidence, and estimating displacement at zero degrees)
  • Question 2
    • Mechanics and Oscillations (Measuring unloaded and loaded spring extensions, determining mass using a balance, timing vertical periodic oscillations, completing tabular timing calculations, plotting oscillations against periodic time, determining the slope at a specific oscillation count, and evaluating the spring stiffness constant)
