  FNU 1111 — Fundamentals of Nursing I is the cornerstone clinical module for KRCHN Year 1, covering the professional, theoretical, infection-control, and procedural foundations of nursing practice in eleven credits of content. The professionalism chapter traces the history of nursing from Nightingale to the Nurses Act Cap 257, explains the scope of KRCHN practice, covers the six elements of the code of ethics (beneficence, non-maleficence, autonomy, justice, fidelity, veracity), and works through key medico-legal issues including negligence, informed consent, DNR orders, and assault. Nursing bodies (NCK, NNAK, ICN, ECSACON) are defined and their roles explained. The nursing theories chapter compares Nightingale (environment), Henderson (14 needs), Orem (self-care deficit), and Roy (adaptation model) in a reference diagram prompt.
