  This literature paper requires candidates to answer a total of four questions within a duration of 2 hours and 30 minutes. The first question on Oral Literature is compulsory. The other is an excerpt-based question focusing on character traits and the challenges related to work as depicted in the novel.
  • Sehemu ya D: Hadithi Fupi (Short Story) - Mapambazuko ya Machweo: This section presents two questions, each based on an excerpt from a different short story ("Harubu ya maisha" and "Mzimu wa kipwere"). The questions test analysis of context, stylistic devices, themes, characterization, and the role of the narrator and setting.
  • Sehemu ya E: Ushairi (Poetry): This section contains one question based on a provided Swahili poem. It assesses the candidate's ability to analyze the poem's theme, form (umbo), poetic devices (arudhi), literary style (tamathali), and tone. It also requires a prose-paraphrase of one of the stanzas.
