• Description:

  The PDF document comprises the Grade 9 Islamic Religious Education (IRE) Theory End of Term 2 2025 Exam. The MS Word version is also available upon your request. The marking scheme is in a different document.

  The exam paper consists of two sections, A and B, to be completed within 1 hour and 40 minutes. Section A contains 20 multiple-choice questions, while Section B features 8 structured questions. The examination is marked out of a total of 100 marks, with Section B accounting for 80 marks.

  The examination assesses learners on a wide range of topics central to Islamic faith and practice:

  • Tawhid (Oneness of Allah): This includes the attributes and names of Allah (Asma ul Husna) and the different categories of Tawhid.

  • Life of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH): This focuses on key events like the Farewell Pilgrimage, messages from his final sermon, and personal qualities such as his intelligence and wisdom (Al-Fatanah).
  • Pillars of Islam and Articles of Faith (Iman): The exam assesses understanding of the five pillars, including the meaning of Shahada, the purpose of fasting, and different types of prayers. It also covers the six articles of faith.
  • Sharia and Islamic Finance: This includes the meaning and objectives (Maqasid) of Sharia, its primary sources, and the concepts of Halal and Haram in earning a living and business practices.
  • Islamic Morals and Ethics (Akhlaq): The paper examines the importance of intention (Niyyah) in worship, and ethics related to truthfulness, honesty, and humility.
  • The Muslim Community (Ummah): This covers the responsibilities within the Muslim community, such as the duties of parents towards children, the rights of neighbours, and how Muslims can contribute positively to the wider Kenyan society.
