It was first published in 2017 and revised in 2024 following the rationalization of the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) based on the recommendations of the Presidential Working Party on Education Reforms (PWPER).

  The curriculum design also provides key inquiry questions, suggested learning experiences, core competencies, values integration, Pertinent and Contemporary Issues (PCIs) such as environmental conservation, social cohesion, peace education, and citizenship, assessment rubrics, suggested learning resources, non-formal learning activities, and Community Service Learning (CSL) guidelines to support practical application of Social Studies concepts.
