  The PDF document comprises Grade 2 Rationalized IRE Activities Curriculum Design.

  This is a Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) design developed by the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD). The curriculum was first published in 2017 and revised in 2024 following curriculum rationalisation based on recommendations of the Presidential Working Party on Education Reforms and continuous curriculum monitoring and evaluation.

  • Core Competencies Integrated: Communication and Collaboration, Critical Thinking and Problem Solving, Creativity and Imagination, Citizenship, Digital Literacy, Learning to Learn and Self-efficacy
  • Additional Components: National Goals of Education, Essence Statement, Specific Learning Outcomes, Suggested Learning Experiences, Key Inquiry Questions, Values, Pertinent and Contemporary Issues (PCIs), Assessment Rubrics, Suggested Resources and Non-formal Activities such as Madrasa attendance and community participation

    • 2.2 Hadith on Iman – 4 lessons
    • 2.3 Hadith on Love – 4 lessons
  • Strand 3.0: Pillars of Iman (10 lessons)
    • 3.1 Belief in Allah’s Books – 5 lessons
    • 3.2 Belief in His Prophets – 5 lessons
  • Strand 4.0: Devotional Acts (12 lessons)
    • 4.1 Swalah (Five Daily Prayers) – 5 lessons
    • 4.2 Swalah (Rakaat) – 7 lessons
  • Strand 5.0: Akhlaq – Moral Teachings (19 lessons)
    • 5.1 Islamic Phrases (Dua before sleeping and after waking up) – 5 lessons
    • 5.2 Relationships
      • Love and Care for Neighbours – 4 lessons
      • Love and Care for People with Special Needs – 5 lessons
    • 5.3 Environment – Caring for the School Environment – 5 lessons
  • Strand 6.0: Siirah (Life of the Prophet) (5 lessons)
    • 6.1 Guardians of the Prophet (S.A.W.) – 5 lessons
  • Strand 7.0: Islamic Festivals (6 lessons)

  The curriculum emphasises learner-centred approaches, integration of Islamic values such as love, responsibility, unity and respect, use of digital and community resources, and practical application of faith through worship, moral conduct, environmental care and social responsibility to support holistic learner development and smooth transition to the next grade.
