This is a Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) design developed by the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD). The curriculum was first published in 2017 and revised in 2024 following curriculum rationalisation based on the recommendations of the Presidential Working Party on Education Reforms and continuous curriculum monitoring and evaluation.

- Strand 3.0: Geometry (12 lessons)
- 3.1 Lines – 6 lessons
- 3.2 Shapes – 6 lessons
The curriculum emphasises practical and hands-on learning using real objects from the learner’s environment. Learners develop skills such as counting up to 50, basic addition and subtraction without regrouping, comparing and measuring length, mass and capacity using arbitrary units, understanding days of the week and months of the year, recognising Kenyan currency coins and notes, and identifying straight/curved lines and basic shapes. It also provides detailed performance-based assessment rubrics, integration of financial literacy, environmental awareness, safety, social cohesion and use of digital devices to support meaningful and interactive learning.
